THE 2020 SPOOK HILL CIDER & WINE 4-MILE RUN IS 100% VIRTUAL

We are sorry that we won’t be seeing our participants in person this year, but we’re still offering a top-notch, wine-themed, albeit virtual, running experience. In terms of SWAG for our registrants, we’ve got bottle stopper race medals, awesome shirts, custom bibs, and yes, you’ll still be able to get specials at participating Spook Hill Wine Trail establishments! As for the running aspect of Spook Hill, you’ll be able to choose where and when you get your 4-mile run in between October 17th and October 25th, uploading results if you wish. We’ve even created two RaceJoy routes – one in Burkittsville (though, unfortunately not on the traditional course) and another in Frederick near Baker Park – where you’ll be able to measure your performance more accurately against other athletes and have your results automatically uploaded upon completion. See the race website or the RunSignup race page for more details.

DESCRIPTION

COVID-19 Planning and preparation statement for the physical 2020 Spook Hill Cider & Wine 4-Mile Run:
Out of an abundance of caution regarding the health of our little community, our participants and volunteers, the 2020 Spook Hill Cider & Wine 4-Mile Run will be converted to a virtual event. You’ll be able to virtually run with us at a time and on a course of your choosing, from the treadmill to the mountains, between October 17th and October 25th.
You can choose to opt-out of receiving a race tee-shirt and $10 will be deducted from your registration fees.
We have two RaceJoy courses plotted out if you wish to utilize them and compete with other entrants on the same course. One is in Burkittsville and includes two-loops around the Distillery Lane Ciderworks’ orchard, but not the other private properties on the traditional Spook Hill course. The other is an out-and-back in Frederick (the Larry Key 4-Mile Course) and starts just north of Baker Park on Rockwell Terrace at N. Bentz St. Regardless of where you choose to run, please be respectful and follow all social-distancing and risk-mitigation guidelines/dicta put forth by local, state and CDC officials.
Visit the participating wineries/cideries/eateries on the Spook Hill Wine Trail after your virtual running of Spook Hill or at any time during October or November.  DLC, Antietam Creek Vineyards, Orchid Cellar, and Willow Oaks will all be offering specials for our participants – your race bib will have these details and ticket stubs for redemption.
Wine-themed medals, tee-shirts, and custom bibs will be mailed.
Overland Timing is providing RaceJoy support and will be your timing contact.
Accolades:  Spook Hill was named by Competitor.com in 2014 as a “Must Do” fall race in the Mid-Atlantic Region.  The race has been featured by Runner’s World Magazine in 2015 and 2018!  Spook Hill is also a Frederick Steeplechasers Running Club “Grand Prix Series” event. We’re striving to make the virtual version just as good as our in-person event!

Virtual Race Dates:

Saturday, October 17, through Sunday, October 25, 2020.

Online Registration: $33.00 (opting out of receiving a tee-shirt will save you $10)
