2019 Cancer Free Family Tree 5K

Join us for a 5K run or a 1-mile walk to raise money for the Buchholz family. Over the year, this family, located in King George, VA, has had multiple diagnoses of the same type of cancer: Lymphoma. Since September is national Lymphoma awareness month, a community-sponsored 1 mile/ 5k walk, roll and run has been scheduled to raise money for the family in which 10% of all proceeds will be gifted to the lymphoma society for continued lifesaving research. We are offering this race to all abilities! Please let us know if you have a need for a racing chariot and we will provide one through Ainsley’s Angels. Vendors for shopping, dining, and entertainment will be available!

The family’s heart-breaking story is below:

2-year-old Noah Buchholz was diagnosed in January 2019 with a rare Stage 3 T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma.  Currently, he is undergoing aggressive chemotherapy which requires multiple hospitalizations and clinic visits to VCU in Richmond, VA. 

He is a little boy who loves to spend time with his mom (Karen), dad (Will) and big brother, Liam. His love for shapes, animals, felt, and coloring is undeniable.  Despite his current medical condition, Noah continues to put up his best fight. His smile and laughter will brighten anyone’s toughest day.

As Noah’s family was just starting to somewhat process his diagnosis and treatment, his 34-year-old Aunt Jenni Buchholz was diagnosed with Stage 4 Anaplastic Large T Cell Lymphoma in February 2019. She had an extended hospital stay that included multiple surgeries and procedures. She is currently at home on oral chemotherapy while awaiting results from a recent PET scan. Jenni enjoys spending time with family and friends and is looking forward to days of walking without assistance.
