Welcome to the 11th annual Rick’s Run!

We are VERY excited to celebrate the 11th running of the Rick O’Donnell 5.22 Mile Trail Run and Ultra Challenge. After 11 years we’re having just as much fun as we did in 2013, while still honoring the memory of some very special members of the running community.

Since that first year, the race has raised over $66,000 and the Steeplechasers have awarded scholarships to 36 students.

The location of Rick’s Run for 2023 is moved due to construction at Greenbrier State Park, where we’ve traditionally held the event. The 2023 edition of Rick’s Run will be held at Milkhouse Brewery at Stillpoint Farm, about 25 minutes east-northeast of Frederick City.

• The course will consist of farm lanes and grassy trails cut through hay fields just for us; some, but not much, gravel; and we are even hoping to get some wooded trails worked into the mix.
• The course will still be hilly, but sadly, not nearly as hilly as the traditional course.
• Unfortunately, it seems as if you’ll have to really try to find any rocks to kick this year.
• The exact course is yet to be determined, however the loop will be somewhere around 5 miles in length.
• Oh, did we mention a brewery will double as race headquarters?
• The mass-start (all events) single loop will be used for FSRC Grand Prix scoring purposes.
• The new 4-hour option is added this year for those not quite up to 8-hours, but wanting to do more than a single loop.
• The “David Hartman Special” aid station will be ready to serve you as they’ve done since the inception of Rick’s Run.
• There will be plenty of room to set up your own aid station close to the course.
• In the spirit of having the event at Milkhouse Brewery, we are planning on our race premium being a special, race-branded pint glass!
• NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED ON THE PREMISES.
• All of the details haven’t been worked out yet (when Milkhouse are opening for sales, etc.), but it is a lovely facility.

The 2023 net race proceeds will again be applied to the FSRC Memorial Scholarship Fund.

NOTE: Registration will be open until 8:30am on race morning, but you MUST register on your own device. Please register online at home before you arrive at the venue or on your own phone when you get to th race venue.  We will not be processing in-person registrations at the race venue.

Come run or walk with us on October 14 for the BMHS 5K for the Arts!

Join this fun 5K and support our BMHS students! All proceeds from this event are for our Fine Arts programs. 

T-shirts have been ordered! Extra shirts were ordered, but there is always a chance we could run out.  
Shirts will be distributed in the order the registration was received.

Description

Join your neighbors and invite your family and friends from afar for this inaugural event and participate in a fun 5K run/walk around the beautiful Cobb Island perimeter streets. Wear your favorite crab or themed costume and enjoy a fun event for the community of Cobb Island and adjoining communities on the Rock Point Road corridor. Register by October 1, 2023, to guarantee your race shirt!

Race Timeline

Pre-race packet pickup
7:00am: Race day packet pickup and registration
8:00am: Little Crabs 600-meter fun run
8:30am: 5K run/walk

Awards

Awards will be given for the top qualifiers in each age group. 

An award will be given for the best costume.

Charity

We will be collecting non-perishable food items at packet pickup or race day that we will donate to the local food bank for Thanksgiving 2023.

Join us for St. Augustine Catholic School’s 2nd Annual Angels on the Run 5K! Run, walk or stroll! Angels on the Run 5K will take runners through the beautiful neighborhood of Lyndwood. While the race is challenging for those race enthusiasts, it is just as fun for families and friends to come out and enjoy the outdoors and experience the thrill of being a part of a community fundraising event. There will be safety marshals stationed along the course and a water station at the halfway point! There will be prizes for all age groups! All Veterans will be recognized with a special token of appreciation. Strollers are allowed on the course.

Packet Pick-up will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 3-6pm at St. Augustine Catholic School. Park in either lot and come to the main entrance of the school. You can pick up packets for family and friends. 

The proceeds of this race go to St. Augustine Catholic School. St. Augustine Catholic School creates a caring and respectful community by educating the whole child and inspiring a life-long love of learning. It fosters an environment to form its students into disciples of Christ, to nurture self-confidence and to instill a belief in the dignity of all people. 

A virtual race option is available for friends and family to join in the fun from afar. Race on your own time and submit your time by 11:59pm November 11, 2023. Take a picture and tag #AOTR23 and St. Augustine School on social media.

The Candy Cane Dash, which benefits Girls on the Run of Mid & Western Maryland, is THE run that’ll get your holiday season jump-started! Holiday spirits will be high with plenty of participants dressed for the occasion, candy canes for all at the finish line, and 5K finisher’s medals that double as Christmas ornaments!  If the costumes and holiday theme don’t bring a smile to your face, you’ll be running amongst 260+ cheerful and exuberant GOTR Fall Program participants, many of whom will be running their first official 5K!
